Director and Consultant

John is a passionate champion for race equality and social justice, bringing extensive board experience and a fundamental belief that safe, affordable housing is a human right. He joined Shared Ownership Resources to advocate for a fair deal, ensuring shared owners have practical avenues to access guidance and build real connections with one another. By bridging the gap between residents and the wider sector, John channels his advocacy skills into steering meaningful change for shared owners nationwide.

Outside of work: You’ll most likely find John hunting out good coffee in Brighton’s lanes, planning his next gig or spoken-word event, or cycling to the gym.

Nikolas Dowlet

Head of Employee Communications at a leading Consultancy Firm

Nik spends his day job putting human connection at the centre of everyday communications. He brings that expertise to the charity to cut through confusing marketing jargon and push for transparent consumer messaging. Nik joined the team to help build a genuine, resident-led space where shared owners can share real experiences, support each other, and access clear guidance without housing association bias.

Outside of work: You’ll usually spot Nik exploring museums like the V&A or Tate Modern, catching a film at the cinema, or cooking up a feast for friends and family.

Chris Lee

Solicitor at a London Law Firm

As a solicitor, Chris understands the legal mechanics of housing, but his commitment to the charity is personal – having navigated shared ownership himself. Seeing neighbours struggle with unexpected complexities after buying inspired him to step up. Chris is dedicated to making shared ownership transparent, helping current and prospective owners understand the legal and financial landscape so they can make fully informed choices.

Outside of work: When he’s taking a break from legal contracts and charity work, Chris loves spending his free time cooking and taking long walks with his dog.

Philippa Marks

Scientist at the NHS

In her work within the NHS, Philippa is all about evaluating risks, weighing up evidence, and keeping a meticulous eye on detail. She brings that exact analytical mindset to Shared Ownership Resources. Recognising that the scheme has complex realities, Philippa joined the charity to ensure shared owners have access to truly impartial advice and a deep understanding of the landscape. She is particularly passionate about advocating for policy and legal changes that push for a fairer deal and better outcomes across the sector.

Eliane Pony

Affordable housing professional with social housing and project management in construction

With over five years of board experience across local community charities and a career in affordable housing, Eliane combines sector knowledge with first-hand experience as a shared owner. She joined the board to demystify the system, boost public awareness, and collaborate with housing providers so residents get accurate information early. Eliane is focused on driving honesty around long-term costs and building strong local communities.

Outside of work: Away from her housing work, Eliane keeps busy singing with the Oxford Gospel Choir, enjoying fitness dance and countryside walks, or travelling.

Zahrah Aullybocus

Property Partner with Nexa Law

Zahrah is experienced in freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, re-mortgages and transfers of equity, though leaseholds are her strong point. However, her passion is for shared ownership leases!

She has contributed Q&A with an Expert features for Shared Ownership Resources on a range of topics including buyback and estate services charges.

Kevin Edwards

Partner with Geoffrey Leaver Solicitors

Kevin has a background in affordable housing, having started his career in-house at the Homes and Communities Agency (now Homes England), and acting on affordable developments and acquisitions for registered providers and developers for over 15 years. He recently served as a board member for Greatwell Homes.

Kevin has contributed Q&A with An Expert features on a range of topics including annual rent reviews, and what shared owners need to know about the Renters’ Rights Act 2025.

Outside of work and voluntary commitments: Kevin still finds time to play football and indulge his passion for DJing—albeit as a bedroom DJ these days—while balancing life with his three children.
